Daniel W. Raak, CPA

Daniel Raak is the owner of Raak and Associates PC where he provides accounting, tax and business consulting services to individuals, small businesses and their owners and to non-profit organizations.  Dan grew up in southern Minnesota and graduated from Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) with a Bachelors of Science degree in accounting.  He received his CPA certificate in 1990, and has a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of South Dakota.

Following his graduation from SMSU, he moved to Dallas, TX where he worked in public accounting for ten years.  In 1993, he returned to the Midwest and continued the practice of public accounting with a regional firm in northwest IA.  He then accepted a Controller position with one of his audit clients.  His experience in private accounting focused on cash management and cash flows, and included work in manufacturing, construction, health care, non profit organization and higher education.  He also has extensive experience with budgeting and forecasting.  Dan’s desire to assist clients with their business and accounting needs, combined with a desire to manage his own business, lead him back into public accounting and founding of Raak & Associates PC.

Dan’s interests outside of the office are focused on his young family, Sarah (7), David (5), and Andrew (3) and his wife, Danel.  He is looking forward to exploring the back roads of ND on his motorcycle, and hopes to have time to improve his golf game.
